Getting to Douglas
Same corridor we use for Saugatuck: US-31 and I-196 south from Holland, off at Blue Star Highway, then straight down Blue Star across the river bridge into Douglas. Village streets are flatter and wider than Saugatuck's, which makes this an easier delivery in every season.

Do you take shrink wrap and boatyard debris from the Douglas marinas?
Yes. Shrink wrap, blocking, old cradle lumber and general yard sweepings all go in a standard roll-off. What we need to know ahead of time is whether there is fuel, oil, batteries or paint in the pile, because those cannot ride along and have to be handled separately. Keep them out and the rest is a straightforward haul.
Can you deliver in Douglas in the middle of winter?
We do it every year. Lake-effect snow is worse right on the shore than it is inland, so the main thing is having a plowed spot for the container and room for the truck to line up. If a foot comes down overnight we may push a delivery a few hours, but we are not a summer-only operation and winter is a good time to get remodel work done here.
The ground near the bayou is soft. Where should the dumpster sit?
On the hardest surface within reach, which usually means the driveway rather than the lawn. Low ground near the water stays saturated well into spring and a loaded roll-off will sink and rut it badly. If soft ground is the only option we lay planking and keep the load lighter, but we would rather walk debris an extra thirty feet than bury a truck.
How long can we keep the container on a Douglas remodel?
Standard rental runs about a week and we extend it when a job runs long. Just tell us before the pickup date rather than after. If the project is phased, most people do better with a smaller can and a couple of swaps than one big box sitting for a month, especially on a village lot where the thing is parked in front of the neighbours.
