Blueberries and apples are the economy in Fennville, and the calendar here follows the harvest more than it follows anything else. We bring containers down for orchard buildings, farm cleanups and the ordinary house projects in and around the small downtown. Fifteen miles out, so it is worth planning a day ahead.

This is the gateway to a lot of Allegan County farm ground, and the orchards and blueberry fields surrounding the city define what leaves in our containers. Packing sheds, cold storage buildings, equipment barns and grading lines all wear out and get replaced. The city itself is small and compact, modest older housing on grid streets with a short downtown. Past the city limits, parcels open into orchard blocks and fields with long access drives. Work here is seasonal by necessity, since nobody clears a building in the middle of picking.
Packing shed and cold storage cleanouts, worn-out crates and pallets, metal roofing off equipment barns, and demolition when an old outbuilding finally comes down. In town it is roofs, siding, kitchen work and basement cleanouts in houses that have been lived in hard for eighty years. We also handle post-harvest cleanups, where a season of packaging, plastic and broken bins has piled up behind the barn all fall.

Fastest way down is US-31 and I-196 south from Holland to the Fennville exit, then east on M-89 into town. When a job sits west of the city we come off earlier and use Blue Star Highway instead. Past the city limits it is county road and orchard lane, and those last miles are where we watch for spring postings and soft shoulders on the two-lanes.

Late fall through winter, once picking and packing are done, or early spring before things get busy again. August and September are the worst time to have a container in the way of a working operation. Growers around Fennville usually book us for November and December, and that is when we have the most room on the schedule anyway.
No, and this one catches people out. Michigan bans yard waste from landfills, which covers prunings, brush and vines, so that material needs composting or chipping instead of a roll-off. Wooden crates, broken bins, plastic sheeting and building debris are all fine. If the pile is mixed, sort it first or we end up having a conversation at the gate.
A day is usually enough, two is better. Fifteen miles down the highway is not the issue, fitting the run into the day is. If the job needs multiple swaps, tell us the whole plan at the start and we will build it into the schedule rather than reacting to each phone call as it comes.
Yes. Corrugated steel goes in the container, though it takes up space unless it gets cut or folded down, so plan on more capacity than the pile looks like it needs. If there is a lot of it and it is clean, it may be worth pulling for scrap before we haul the rest. We will tell you which way makes more sense once we see it.
