Dumpster Rental Jamestown MI

Jamestown is farmland turning into neighbourhoods, and it has been doing it fast. We run out Riley Street to get there, past fields that were corn three years ago and are foundations now. Both sides of that transition keep us busy: builders on the new streets, and long-time owners clearing out the places that are selling.

Roll-off containers for Jamestown homes and businesses

Jamestown Township still reads as rural from the road, with section-line farms, pole barns and gravel drives, but the subdivisions creeping in from the north tell the real story. Being close to M-6 puts commuters within easy reach of Grand Rapids, and that has pushed development hard over the last decade. For us that means a split territory. Half our stops are new construction on freshly graded lots with no lawn yet. The other half are farmsteads and older houses where somebody is finally emptying a barn that has been full since the sixties.

New construction is the biggest slice, with cans cycling through framing scrap, siding cutoffs, drywall and final punch-list cleanup. Alongside that we do a lot of clearing work on farms that are selling: barns emptied, sheds torn down, decades of stored equipment and furniture hauled off. Existing homes bring us the usual roofs, basements and kitchen jobs. Storm cleanup runs high here too, since there is nothing between these fields and the wind.

Riley Street is the road. Our drivers pick it up on the north side of Holland and run it straight east through Zeeland Township into Jamestown, crossing the numbered avenues as they count down. For addresses on the north end we jog up to Quincy Street instead. Fifteen miles of mostly open two-lane, quick outside of commuter hours and easy on a loaded truck.

Dumpster rental in Jamestown — FAQs

Can you place a container on a construction lot with no driveway yet?

Yes, and we do it constantly in Jamestown. On a graded lot we look for the firmest ground near where the drive is going, usually the compacted stone base if it is in. Fresh fill and wet clay are what we avoid, because a loaded truck will dig in and then the excavator has to fix our mess. Point us at the stone and we are fine.

How far out do you need to know about a Jamestown delivery?

A day of notice covers most jobs. It is fifteen miles east, so we usually pair it with a Zeeland or Hudsonville run and the timing works best when we know the day before. Same-day happens when the schedule allows, but do not count on it for a Monday morning start with a crew standing around waiting on a box.

Are the gravel township roads out here restricted in the spring?

Some of them are. Ottawa County posts seasonal weight limits while the frost comes out of the ground, generally March into May, and that affects how much we can legally carry on certain roads. Our drivers know which ones typically get posted. It usually means a lighter load or a smaller container for a few weeks, not a cancelled job.

We are emptying a barn before the farm sells. What size is realistic?

Start with a 30 yard and expect a swap. Barn contents are bulky rather than dense, old furniture, feed bags, lumber and boxes, so volume runs out before weight does. Pull the scrap steel out separately if there is much of it. If the barn itself is coming down afterwards, that is a different conversation and several more loads.
